VA Proof of Progress Evaluation

Service Description

If your child was 6 years old on September 30, 2024, you need to submit proof of progress by August 1, 2025 to the Superintendent of your school system. Evaluations are one option that parents have for proof of progress according to Code of Code of Virginia 22.1-254.1(C).  Evaluation Cost: $50 for first student, $30 for each additional student What do I need to provide for an evaluation? After scheduling your meeting, you will receive a follow-up email with a survey to help each of us prepare for the meeting. Please complete this survey as soon as possible. In addition to this survey, work samples can help show progress. The goal of the evaluation is to account for your student’s progress over the year. In my approach to evaluations, I seek evidence in two ways: (1) Work samples from the beginning and end of the year, or at least a few months apart. Progress can easily be accounted for with 3-10 samples of work (total), so no need to scan a whole workbook - just pick a few from across the year that show how your student has progressed in their knowledge. Some types of work samples: - Worksheets or assignments - Tests or quizzes - Reports from online programs - Book lists - Nature Journals - Field trips - Classes, clubs, co-ops - Dated parent observations - & more! (2) Parent narrative or description of how the student’s current skills compare to previous skills, highlighting specific examples of growth in academic knowledge of skills. What is the end result of this meeting? The evidence of progress you provide will be used to create a personalized proof of progress letter that you can send your superintendent. You will also receive the letter and a copy of my credentials to send with it within a week of our meeting.
